Easy ways to keep your hair hyper-healthy:
Chill out on the washing. Yes, hygiene is totally important. But take it easy when it comes to scrubbing down those strands on your head. Washing your hair every single day can strip it of the oils it needs to stay shiny and healthy. Pick up a shower cap and skip the shampoo routine until your hair looks like it needs it.
Brush softly (and carry a big comb). A lot of people brush their hair straight out of the shower. The problem? When your hair is wet, it’s more susceptible to breaking. If you like your post-shower brushing routine, make sure you go easy. And consider investing in a wide-toothed comb to get your hair in order without jamming a bunch of bristles through it.
Be gentle in general. In fact, there are a lot of things you can do to minimize breakage. For example, instead of rubbing a towel through your hair post-shower, blot it. Get a silk or satin pillowcase to protect your hair while you sleep. If you tie up your hair with an elastic or scrunchie, be gentle (you can even buy special hair ties designed to protect your hair). And if you use hot tools to style, turn down the temp.
Get a trim. Once your hair starts developing split ends, they just keep on splitting. Regular trims keep your hair healthy and looking great.
